WAMY begins construction of Jumu’a Mosques, plans borehole projects in Kebbi

The World Assembly of Muslim Youths (WAMY) has commenced the construction of three Jumu’a mosques and plans to build five boreholes in Kebbi State as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts.
The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Muhammad Sani Aliyu announced this during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of one of the mosques at Bangu, a Fulani settlement in Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday.
The Commissioner who represented Governor Nasir Idris expressed appreciation to WAMY for choosing Kebbi State for its philanthropic mission, acknowledging that the organization has been active in Nigeria for more than 50 years.
“They have consistently intervened in critical areas such as the construction of boreholes, Mosques, schools, clinics, as well as healthcare services”, he said.
He further disclosed that WAMY would sponsor free eye treatment for 5,000 people suffering eye defects in the state, following their inspection of facilities at the Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo.
The Country Director of WAMY, Dr. Hisham Muhammad, who led the delegation from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, reaffirmed the organization’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian services in Nigeria.
He assured that the construction of the Mosques would be completed within two months, fully furnished with carpeting and a sound system.
“Insha Allah, the Masajid will be completed in two months, we shall handle everything from foundation to roofing, tiling, provision of electricity, carpets, and sound system,” he assured.
Dr. Hisham added that, on completion, the Mosques would be handed over to the Ministry of Religious Affairs for onward presentation to the benefitting communities.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Engr. Imrana Ibn Usman, commended WAMY, saying that the organization has built more than 53 fully equipped mosques across Nigeria, for local communities
He further stated that WAMY is one of the organizations the Governor directed the Office of the Special Adviser to partner with to bring more benefits to the people of Kebbi State.
Community leader, Engr. Muhammad Ladan, Shatiman Gwadangwaji, and Wakilin Aliero Estate expressed immense gratitude to Governor Nasir Idris, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and WAMY for the project, urging members of the communities to safeguard the edifices and maintain a clean environment.
The WAMY delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Governor Nasir Idris at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Dr. Hisham briefed the Governor on their plans, which include Mosque construction, scholarship awards, and the scheduled medical outreach for 5,000 eye patients.
In response, Governor Idris expressed his heartfelt appreciation to WAMY for selecting Kebbi for such impactful initiatives.
“Treating 5,000 people, providing eyeglasses, constructing boreholes and Mosques, these are monumental contributions”,
“Government alone cannot do everything; we welcome and appreciate foreign partnerships for the benefit of our people,” he stated.
Governor Idris also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting religious affairs and strengthening collaboration with organizations like WAMY.
Earlier, the delegation visited the Eye Clinic at Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo, to inspect facilities prelude to the outreach.
