A group known as Abia Transparency and Accountability Forum,ATAF, has called for the arrest of Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu, representing Obinqwa west State constituency in Abia House of Assembly, for alledged malicious publication against Senator T.A.Orji.
The call was contained in a press release signed by Comrade Victor David, President General and Comrade Ndubuisi Nworgu, the Secretary of the group and made available to our reporter in Umuahia on Monday.
The release reads in parts;”The attention of Abia Transparency and Accountability Forum, ATAF, has been drawn to a deeply troubling and malicious act perpetrated by Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu the current house member representing Obingwa West State constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, who has engaged in a malicious and malevolent act by publishing false and defamatory content aimed at tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of a former Governor and former Senator, His Excellency Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji, who served the state and the Nation with utmost dedication, integrity, and exemplary service.
“This individual, Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu, had circulated fake court documents that falsely accuse Senator Theodore Orji of serious criminal activities, including linking him with Mr Uchenna Erondu, Austin Akuma and a company name Effdee Nigeria Limited. The publication went further to claim that the former governor served in office between 2016 and 2017which is incorrect, as he concluded his constitutionally mandated two terms on 29 May, 2015,”the release stated.
The group said that the fabricated claims are not only a blatant attempt to ruin the impeccable record of Senator Orji, but also seek to undermine public trust in the state’s governance and the rule of law.
“The use of forged legal documents to carry out such malicious publications is not only a grave violation of the law but also a direct attack on the character and integrity of a person who served his office with distinction. Such actions are damaging not only to the individual in question but to society at large, as they mislead the public, disrupt the peace, and foster unnecessary animosity.
“The use of falsified court documents constitutes a grave criminal offence under Nigerian law, including provisions of the Criminal Code and the Cybercrimes Act. Mr. Erondu’s actions are not only malicious but capable of breaching public peace and undermining confidence in our justice system,”the restated.
The group demands the immediate arrest, thorough investigation, and diligent prosecution of Mr. Erondu Uchenna Erondu for forgery and use of falsified court documents, criminal defamation, false publication and misinformation, cyber-related offences under the Cybercrimes Act.
“Justice must prevail, not just for Senator Theodore Orji, but for all who believe in the sanctity of truth and the rule of law.
“We trust that the Inspector General of police and other law enforcement agencies will act swiftly and in accordance with the law to ensure accountability and prevent further misuse of our institutions for political vendetta, “the release concludes.
