The ancient town of Iwoye-Ketu in Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State was agog with excitement as the people received their Oba-elect, Prince Isaac Adegbenro Oyero, in a triumphant entry.

Before Oyero emerged as the new Ooye of Iwoye-Ketu, his candidacy was met with initial opposition from some quarters, however, Oyero’s widespread acceptance and popularity among the people ultimately overshadowed the opposition, paving the way for his unanimous selection as the new monarch.

The elegant ceremony commenced in Afon, 12 kilometers away from Iwoye, and progressed to Iwoye, where the Oba-Elect was warmly welcomed by people of all ages who left their businesses and traveled from neighboring villages to be a part of this momentous occasion.

The reception was filled with traditional music, joy, excitement, and fanfare, as the community came together to celebrate their new monarch.

Oba Oyero, a devoted Christian and Knight of St. John Wesley Catholic Church was overwhelmed by the warm reception he received from the people of Iwoye-Ketu.

The town, which is historically significant as a border town between the Benin Republic and Nigeria, has produced three Yoruba warlords, including the famous Are Ona Kakanfo.

After performing some spiritual rites that traditionally precede installation, Oba Oyero spoke to journalists, seeking the cooperation of both indigenous and non-indigenes in the town to move Iwoye-Ketu forward.

“I want to appeal to our people, both at home and in the diaspora, to come and invest in our town. We have vast land for agriculture, and I believe that together, we can develop our town and make it a better place for all.

“I can assure them that during my reign, there will be rapid development. We are bringing development to this town, and we will devise strategies that can attract investors who will come to invest in Iwoye-Ketu.

Oba Oyero also stressed the need for unity among the people of Iwoye-Ketu, stating that his administration would prioritize the welfare and development of the town.

“I’ll work tirelessly to unite our people and ensure that our town becomes a hub for economic growth and development. I’m committed to making Iwoye-Ketu a great place to live, work, and invest,”

The reception ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including traditional leaders, and community leaders, who all came to show their support for the new monarch.
