A Councilorship candidate under the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the just concluded Local Government election, Hon.Onyemaobi Okonkwo, has gathered leaders of his esteemed political associates and members of the Hope Alive Movement in Otolo Ward 1 to share a pivotal decision.
After careful consideration, he said, he has resolved to decamp from the Young Progressives Party (YPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This strategic move was motivated by his unwavering commitment to the vision of his late mentor and boss, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, and the APC’s demonstrable strength, resilience, and capacity to prioritize the welfare and security of its members.
Okonkwo used the opportunity to express his sincere appreciation to the YPP for providing him with a platform to contest in the last charade local government election.
Regrettably, he pointed out the party’s limitations in terms of resources and wherewithal to protect members’ interests and ensure the security and welfare of its candidates, which accordingly have become apparent.
As a stalwart advocate for justice, equity, and fairness, Okonkwo said he was compelled to reevaluate his affiliation and sought a more conducive environment that aligns with his values and aspirations.
“My decision to join the APC is not taken lightly, and I am confident that this move will enable me to contribute more effectively to the nation’s growth.
“The APC’s track record of prioritizing the welfare and security of its members, coupled with its robust resources and infrastructure, presents a more viable platform for me to actualize my vision and make a meaningful impact.
“I am eager to leverage the party’s strengths to drive positive change and promote the well-being of our people within my capacity.
“As I embark on this new chapter, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to those who have believed in my vision and supported me thus far. Your trust and confidence mean the world to me, and I pledge to continue upholding the principles of justice, equity, and fairness that have guided my actions thus far.
“Together, let us forge a brighter future for our dear town, state, and Nigeria at large,” he said.
