Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the renovation of 100  mosques across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Malam Imran Bin-Usman, disclosed this to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

He explained that the approval aligns with the governor’s commitment to ensuring Muslim worshippers have a conducive environment for prayers, especially ahead of the upcoming Ramadan in March.

“The renovation will be carried out under the supervision of leaders of Islamic groups, who are expected to adhere strictly to specifications. Each mosque must be equipped with solar lighting, comprising three panels of 100W each, among other requirements,” Bin-Usman stated.

He further noted that this initiative represents the first phase, with a second phase to follow upon successful completion. He assured that a team of consultants, engineers, and media personnel would oversee the projects to ensure compliance.

“The contract has a two-week execution period, and all leaders involved must carefully review the contractual agreement before signing.

The agreement covers two key aspects: the contract amount and the renovation specifications,” he added.

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr. Sani Aliyu, reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to the initiative while addressing Islamic group leaders in Birnin Kebbi.

“Each local government is expected to renovate at least three mosques. Additionally, one mosque will be allocated to each Islamic group for renovation, aside from the three Jumu’ah mosques,” Aliyu explained.

He urged the leaders to handle the project with honesty and transparency, emphasizing that the contracts vary in cost based on the bill of quantity. He also warned against any deviation from the specified guidelines, stressing that all selected mosques had been inspected by the due process office.
