TCN restores full bulk power to Apo Substation after FCDA Road Project

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the restoration of full bulk power to the 132/33kV Apo Transmission Substation, effective Thursday, January 23, 2025.

The development comes after the successful relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV transmission towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line, affected by the Federal Capital Development Agency’s (FCDA) road dualization project on the Southern Expressway in the Apo axis of Abuja.

The two-week relocation project, which began on January 6, 2025, involved dismantling, reconstructing the towers, and restringing power cables to ensure seamless electricity transmission.

With this restoration, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is now able to provide regular electricity supply to its customers in the affected areas, putting an end to the load rationing experienced during the relocation process.

In a statement, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, thanked electricity consumers for their patience and understanding throughout the period of disruption, adding that the company remains committed to maintaining reliable power transmission across its network.

This successful intervention demonstrates TCN’s resolve to ensure minimal disruptions to electricity supply even in the face of major infrastructural developments like the FCDA road dualization project.
