‘Work to begin on 17-Kilometer Sango-Ijoko road – Gov Abiodun

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has announced that construction will soon commence on the 17-kilometer Sango-Ijoko road, with the project divided into two sections to ensure its timely completion.
The Governor made this announcement during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects in the Ifo 2 State Constituency. He also revealed that the 3.25-kilometer Alagbole-Ajuwon-Akute road, located in Ifo Local Government Area, would be fully completed and ready for commissioning by the end of February 2025.
“About four months ago, we visited this area to address complaints about the poor state of roads in Ifo 2, particularly the Alagbole-Ajuwon, Denro-Ishashi-Akute, Ajuwon-Akite, Ijoko-Sango, and Lambe roads. At that time, I promised to return within a few months to commission the rehabilitated roads.
“Today, I am pleased to report that the Alagbole-Akute road is now fully completed and 100 percent ready for commissioning. The Ajuwon-Akute road, which spans 3.25 kilometers, is still under construction but will be completed by the end of February, by God’s grace,” he said.
Regarding the Sango-Ijoko road, the Governor explained that the 17-kilometer stretch would be divided into two sections of 8 kilometers each to accelerate progress. He added that the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure has been instructed to prioritize construction at the worst sections of the road.
Governor Abiodun also called on residents to use and maintain the roads responsibly to ensure their longevity and functionality.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Ifo Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Akangbe Olatunde, commended the Governor for fulfilling his promises and bringing relief to the people of Ifo Local Government through the road projects.
Hon. Hadijat Adeleye, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, also praised the Governor’s efforts, noting that the intervention has alleviated years of infrastructural neglect in the constituency.
“We have endured severe hardship in this area due to the neglect of past administrations. Despite being a border community with Lagos, there was little development here. Governor Dapo Abiodun has given us hope, lifting us out of neglect and bringing much-needed progress to Ifo 2. We are deeply grateful,” she said.
