Ex-PDP Stakeholder, Samben Nwosu, loyalist joins YPP in Anambra

A frontline aspirant for the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial bye-election, Prince Samben Nwosu has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
He announced the defection at the YPP secretariat in Awka, Anambra State, during his meeting with the YPP State Executive on Tuesday, 21st of January, 2025.
In attendance were the State Party Chairman, Prince Moses Obi, and Zonal Chairman, Ichie Peter Ozulumba, among others.
In his address, the former Federal Commissioner of Public Complaints Commission (PCC) declared his intention to use YPP to run the Senatorial race.
As a party man who joined politics in 1987, Nwosu said he had been actively involved in politics, adding that the party would benefit a lot from him “if he becomes a Senator.”
Nwosu urged them to give him a YPP ticket to run the race, disclosing that he has the structure to win the election.
As a grassroots general, Nwosu said he would only go there as their driver, stating that” when you have a good driver, you would rest assured that you would reach your destination no matter the condition of the vehicle.”
“We will definitely reach our destination with our collective support” he added.
The party State chairman, Prince Moses Obi, who spoke immediately after Nwosu made his intention known to the party excos, welcomed him to the party, assuring him that his visit would yield fruit. He further assured him that the party would give him maximum support for the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial bye-election.
Ichie Peter Ozulumba in his remarks, thanked Nwosu for joining the Party. He revealed that “his personality, is what is needed to run this race and emerge winner”.He categorically stated that Samben Nwosu remained grassroots-oriented, praying that his desire would come to manifestation.
