Niger hosts financial management training to enhance health sector efficiency

Niger State Ministry of Primary Health Care, in collaboration with GAVI and UNICEF, has conducted a comprehensive training program focused on Financial Management and Segregation of Duties. 

It was a significant effort to strengthen the health sector’s financial management capabilities.

The training brought together four participants from each Local Government Area (LGA), including a Director, LIO, Health Educator, and Accountant. 

It was conducted Under the expert guidance of facilitators Adamu Abubakar Haruna, Maimuna Tsado, and HACT Consultant Ikechuku Vitus, the sessions were designed to be interactive and engaging.

Participants reviewed various approaches and strategies for implementing the Programme for the Verification of Compliance (PVC) under GAVI and its intervention programs.

 The agenda included discussions on the retirement practices of LGAs, visitation protocols, and the importance of segregation of duties in enhancing accountability and transparency within the financial systems.

After the training, participants were encouraged to work in synergy, emphasizing the importance of a cohesive approach to implementing the lessons learned regarding effective retirement planning and overall financial management strategies. 

This training marks a pivotal step towards improving operational efficiency and ensuring the effective use of resources in Niger State’s health sector.
