Eight persons die in Niger ghastly auto crash

An auto crash has sent no fewer than 8 persons to their on a timely grave in a ghastly motor accident that happened around Batati/Lanle to Kutigi in Lavun local government area of Niger state.

The sad incident it was gathered occurred around 8pm on Monday when a Toyota Corolla vehicle was trying to overtake and then ran into an oncoming tanker trailer going towards Lagos for loading.

Our sources revealed that all 8 victims are farmers who migrated from Niger Zone B due to insecurity to Dasu village in Lavun local government area of the state for their farming activities.

He added that they were all men of different age brackets while he expressed shock over the way the deceased was crushed by the trailer, leading to their deaths.

Confirming the report, An  Assistant Commander of the Road Transport Employee Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Kutigi branch, Mohammed Sanusi, said that it was a head-on collusion between the two vehicles leading to the casualties.

“I was shocked when I saw the way the bodies looked in the crushed vehicle; tears ran down from my eyes uncontrollably. May God Almighty forgive them their shortcomings.”

He stated that it was the efforts of the Road Safety Commission personnel, Red Cross, and the Road Transport Employee Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) who assisted in evacuating and retrieving the bodies that had all been buried in Dasu village on Tuesday.

No official statement has been issued by the state government, Niger state command of the Nigerian Police Force, and state commander of FRSC at the time of filing the report.
