The Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Francis Idu, has decorated the command’s  Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, and 68 other personnel newly promoted to various ranks.

Musa Mohammed was promoted from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

Others include 29 personnel from SP to CSP, 18 personnel from DSP to SP, and 21 others from ASP to DSP.

Commissioner of Police Francis Idu, while speaking during the decoration ceremony held at the Police Officers’ Mess, expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, who it that Men and Officers are promptly promoted and rewarded for their investment in security governance all over the country, particularly in Bayelsa state.

He said the IGP, since assumption of office, has made sure that hard-working officers and Men of the Nigerian police force are promoted as and when due.

He, however, urged the benefitting police personnel to reciprocate the gesture by putting in their best in securing life and properties, “We assured the citizens of Bayelsa, that we would invest our capacity and competencies to ensure that law and order management issues are built to guarantee assurances of freedom from fear which is security and we have been able to do that”.

“IG saw what we have done to make sure those who are due for promotion were promptly promoted. The newly promoted officers should reciprocate the gesture of the IG and ensure that this year is a year to develop intolerance techniques to crime and criminalities”

“We have been able to do crime mapping of the state, we have been able to compile crime footage, which has been the fallback point for us to ensure that when things happen, we know where to check.”

“So, the men and officers promoted are assured that adequate mentorship is available. They are to double their efforts and commitment for the IG to know that the reward he has given has triggered optimum performance.”

“The IG requested everyone to input a template on crime governance that we should holistically give everyone buy-in, particularly those who are going to enforce the law, and we should filter into them the need to ensure citizens’ concern on the enforcement template they have.

” We are at the receiving end of the citizens’ perception. Whatever we do and there is no buy-in by the citizens, we are wasting our time, they are the point of our services, they are the point of our assessment and in Bayelsa here we always make sure the community-based Organisations, various Youth groups, interest group are brought in to our law and order management strategies.

“We charge to go back to CBO and various community leaders to let them know this is a new year and to say look what did do wrong last year and what they  think we should do to improve upon this year to ensure that a holistic template is created to manage law and order issues here.”

“Bayelsa is a place where nature has created its colony, harvest of creeks, meandering rivers, and swampy terrain that only the citizens and Google can collaborate on and give you a point of impact. So if you neglect citizens’ input, you are looking for trouble.”

“We have electro-technological equipment that we have married with Google to give us feedback, and there is a link between the citizens, and we depend on them 75 percent”.

He said the state command flew over 18 hours with about 8 drones daily. Saying they are doing all they can to make sure citizens are free from fear.”
