NUJ Bayelsa to hold media summit

The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, in a bid to strengthen and redefine interactions with stakeholders within the media space, has constituted a Steering Committee to organize a maiden Media Summit, tagged “THE BAYELSA MEDIA SUMMIT”.

Members of the Committee on Tuesday, 7 January 2025, at the Ernest Ikoli Press Center in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital.
The members of the committee are as follows: Tarinyo Akono, a former Chairman of the NUJ, is to serve as chairman of the committee, while Imgbi Stanley, the current secretary of the council, will serve as secretary.
While others members of the committee are John Angese, the current secretary of Zone F of the NUJ, National Secretariat, Ebi Avi, a veteran sports writer, Dr. Kola Oredipe, the Director General to the governor of Bayelsa State on New Media, Doubara Atasi, Special Adviser to the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, Ade Bakare, a director in the Ministry of Information and Orientation, Dr. Sophia Obi, staff of the Ministry of Information and Orientation, and Nelson Agadi, staff of Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation.
Also, Judith Young, immediate past vice chairman of the council, Tife Owolabi, Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel of the NUJ, Grace Orumieyefa, Chairperson of National Union of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Maria Olodi Osuma, former chairperson of (NAWOJ), Ovieteme George, a senior staff of Arise TV and Dr.Ikiemoye Iniamagha are Members.
Speaking on behalf of other members of the committee, the chairman, Tarinyo Akono, said, “This summit will be successfully held to sell the Bayelsa brand to attract investors and tourists. I am sure sure with the caliber of members of this committee, we will organize a successful media summit.”
Also speaking, the Director General to the governor of Bayelsa State on New Media, Dr. Kola Oredipe, said that “this summit will prove how we can be united, together and stronger as journalists in a bid to sell Bayelsa to the world.
“This summit is intended to extract the commitment from the media family. And it will go a long way to change the negative narrative of Bayelsa State.. . “
