Gurara Waterfalls cultural festival aims to promote peace among Gabyi people

Niger State deputy governor Comrade Yakubu Garba has stressed the need to sustain the annual Gurara Waterfalls Cultural Festival (GUWAC FEST)
Held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Gawu Babangida, headquarters of Gurara Local Government, the festival was organized by the Big Brother Association.
He expressed delight that the festival was aimed to promote cultural harmony, peace, and unity among the people of Niger State.
Comrade Garba commended the organizers for upholding the cultural identity of the Gabgyi people and urged them to sustain the tempo.
The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of education and agriculture, encouraging parents to enroll their children in school as well as key into the agricultural revolution of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
He also highlighted the government’s gains in the fight against insecurity.
The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hajiya Fatima Adamu, represented by the Overseeing Director of Tourism Madam Rakiya Tiffi, was also in attendance.
This year’s edition marked the 9th anniversary of the festival, which showcases Niger State’s abundant natural resources and rich cultural heritage.
The festival has become a significant event in the state’s cultural calendar, attracting visitors from across the country.
The Deputy Governor’s attendance and Honourable Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Hajiya Binta Mamman, at the festival, demonstrate the state government’s commitment to promoting cultural development and preserving the state’s rich heritage.
