Okieimen empowers Farmers, Artisans, Market Women in Ilejemeje Constituency

...Drum support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji's administration

One of the prominent female legislators in the Ekiti State House of Assembly and a former Commissioner for Environment in Ekiti State. Hon.Barrister Iyabo Fakunle Okieimen has called on the people of Ilejemeje Constituency to give their maximum support to the government of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji by extending their social contract beyond 2026.

Hon. Iyabo Fakunle Okieimen gave the charge in her country home, Iye Ekiti, during the last leg of the year 2024 Constituency engagement program, the 4th edition in the year, which coincidentally falls on her birthday.

The lawmaker expressed great delight in the support she has always received from her constituents since she joined politics close to 20 years ago and which still subsists to date. She then, before, also promised her continual dedication to her people’s welfare more than ever before. 

Hon. Okieimen also enjoined her people to reciprocate the good works of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his dutiful wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, by giving total support for the success of this administration and renewing his mandate.

The lawmaker enumerated some developmental projects executed by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in Ilejemeje Constituency within the last two years in office, ranging from the complete overhaul and upgrade of the General Hospital in Iye Ekiti to a world-class standard, construction of roads, provision of solar lights, the appointment of some indigenes of the Local Government into key political positions amongst others.

She emphasized why her Constituency, Ilejeme,je should not be left behind in the 4+4 crusade of the current administration and reaffirmed her commitment to efficient legislation, presentation, and prioritization of the welfare of people in the area.

The former Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, who currently serves as the Chairman of theHouse Committee on Environment, not tagged the program ”combating the effects of climate change’ and used the opportunity to educate the constituents on the effects of climatchangee’ and how to mitigate it. She matched her words with action by giving out 10 water pumping machines, several cartons of herbicides, liquid fertilizers, and several bags of pelletized fertilizers to prepare the constituents for the next year’s farming activities. This is also aimed at thactualizationon of the Shared Prosperity mantra of the Gov. Biodun Oyebanji Administration.

She described the Constituency /empowerment program as a cardinal program of the Seventh Assembly, which is used by the House as a platform to frequently interface and engage their constituents with up-to-date briefings on the progress of the legislative activities and also their oversight functions on the executive arm of Government.

This last Quarter of year 2024 Constituency program enabled the lawmaker to celebrate Christmas and her birthday with her constituents.

Beneficiaries of the empowerment program were drawn from the Ten (10) wards of the Constituency where farming equipments and food items worth over five million Naira and cash gifts were distributed.

More importantly, the event was a gathering of political bigwigs in the area, and it featured dancing and cutting of birthday cake. On hand were the Chairman,  All Progressive Congress Ilejemeje Local Government, Mr. OLABODE Oladipo, Local Government Executives, Women leaders, APC Ward Chairman and Wards Executives, The Iyaloja of IYE Ekiti and other Iyalajes from the local government, the youth leaders, Artisans, Farmers, and other relevant stakeholders.

In his remarks, the Chairman of All Progressive Congress in Ilejemeje Local Government, Mr. Bode Oladipo, commended Hon. Okieimen for her regular empowerment programs, which he said have been unprecedented in the history of the local government. He said;

“This is unprecedented in the Constituency, it is now becoming a routine, urging her to keep on giving to the people in the area,”

Mr. Oladipo advised the beneficiaries to make good use of all items given to them by the lawmaker rather than selling them at a cheaper rate for immediate gain and consumption. 

One of the beneficiaries, Mr Omodara Felix from Ewu ward, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the lawmaker representing Ilejemeje Constituency in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon.Barrister Iyabo Fakunle Okeimen, for the intervention and called on other beneficiaries to count themselves lucky and not to misuse the opportunity.
