Milestone Achievements in 2024
The foundation rounded off the year with its last quarterly program in Mabushi Village, Abuja, training over 200 individuals in various skills acquisition programs.
Speaking to Standard Times, a trainee, Paul Kings Adaji, a Master’s degree holder in Political Science, shared his experience. He explained that after several unsuccessful attempts to secure a job, he attended the training and learned soap-making and other entrepreneurial skills. “I no longer need to look for white-collar jobs, which are scarce in Nigeria,” he said. “I am now empowered to be self-reliant and will work to help others off the streets.”
Another participant, Destiny Sule, a 17-year-old SS2 student at Government Day Secondary School, Mabushi, expressed her gratitude. “Now that I’m empowered, I will immediately establish a business to support my education after secondary school,” she said. Sule also called on federal, state, and local governments to provide additional funding to the foundation to help it reach more people.
Coordinated Efforts and Quarterly Programs
The NGO’s last quarterly skills acquisition program in 2024 was coordinated by Regina Martha Efiom of the Regy and Henry Foundation, with support from trainers of the Amazing Grace Foundation. The organization runs four empowerment programs annually, with a dedicated monitoring and evaluation system to assess trainees each January.
Widespread Impact
Since its establishment, Regy and Henry Foundation has extended its humanitarian efforts to several slum villages in Abuja, including Utako, Nyanya, Jabi, Jayi, Kpana, Kado, Kukwabang, Maitama Village, Kubwa, and Mabushi Village, among others.
The foundation’s National Director, Dr. Duru Regina, reiterated its commitment to creating a society free from social vices and safe for all. “Our goal is to foster self-reliance and improve livelihoods in marginalized communities,” she said.
On Saturday, December 21, 2024, the foundation concluded its activities for the year with a three-day training program in Mabushi Village, empowering youths with skills and distributing materials and cash gifts to support their entrepreneurial endeavors.
