Oyo East LG Chairman embarks on road grading to fulfill campaign promises

Oyo East Local Government Chairman, Hon. Oluokun Olusola Peter, has flagged off a comprehensive road grading project across the wards of the local government area. The initiative, launched on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, is part of his efforts to fulfill campaign promises and deliver the dividends of democracy to residents.
Hon. Oluokun kicked off the grading exercise from Kieseni village to Akoda village, Ọmọ Ọba village, Ogbagba village, and Ajagba village. This project aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s “Omituntun 2.0” agenda and aims to improve road access for motorists while fostering development in rural areas.
In an interview with our correspondent, Hon. Oluokun emphasized that the road grading project is a strategic move to improve rural infrastructure and enhance connectivity among communities. He noted that accessible roads are crucial to boosting local economies, easing transportation, and improving the quality of life for residents.

The villagers, excited about the development, expressed their gratitude to the chairman and his administration for fulfilling promises made during the election campaign. They highlighted how such initiatives would positively impact their daily lives and create opportunities for socio-economic growth.
Mr. Tiamiyu Olojule, a resident of Kieseni village, expressed deep appreciation for the transformation of the road in his community. He said, “It’s been 4 to 5 years since we last experienced this kind of development in our village. Kudos to Governor Seyi Makinde and Hon. Oluokun for keeping their promises. This project will truly change lives in our area.”

According to Hon. Ibraheem Adeyemi Olojule, Supervisor for Works in Oyo East Local Government, the administration is committed to ensuring that no community is left out in the grading exercise. Speaking on behalf of the chairman, he urged residents to cooperate with workers and provide necessary support to ensure the project’s success.
Hon. Ibraheem also reiterated the administration’s dedication to improving infrastructure across the local government area. “This is just the beginning. We are determined to grade every nook and cranny of Oyo East to ensure no area is left behind,” he said.
In continuation of this commitment, Hon. Oluokun also commenced township road grading on December 17, 2024. The exercise began in Mabolaje, Ward 10, with plans to address blocked streets and layouts in the urban parts of the local government.

The chairman stressed that this phase of the project would bring relief to residents of township communities who have endured poor road conditions for years. He noted that his administration is focused on creating seamless access and improving transportation within Oyo East.
The villagers and road users expressed their satisfaction with the chairman’s proactive leadership, which they described as a breath of fresh air. Many highlighted how the road grading project had rekindled their faith in governance and reminded them of the importance of electing visionary leaders.
Hon. Oluokun also used the opportunity to highlight the importance of rural infrastructure in achieving Governor Makinde’s broader vision for the state. He urged stakeholders to remain committed to supporting government initiatives aimed at enhancing community development.
He reassured the people of Oyo East that his administration would not rest until all areas within the local government had been adequately graded. He expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his support and pledged to continue delivering impactful projects to the people.
