A former member of the House of Representative, David Ombugadu has been declared the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forth coming Governorship election in Nasarawa State.
This followed his victory during Wednesday Party primary election at Nasarawa, the Headquarter of Nasarawa Local Government Council.
Chairman of the Party primary election Committee, Bature Musa, who declared Ombugadu winner, said Ombugadu polled 247 votes to defeat Maj. Gen. Nuhu Angbazo (Rtd) who scored 203 votes.
“Having secured a total of 247, I therefore declare David Ombugadu the winner of the Nasarawa state Governorship primary election”.
Bature who described the election as peaceful, said a total of 450 delegates were accredited to participate in the election, adding that all of them voted.
In an interview with newsmen shortly after the election the Governorship Candidate Ombugadu appreciated God for the victory and promised to ensure that PDP emerge victorious in the 2023 general elections.
On his part, Gen. Nuhu Angbazo who described the election as free and fair, promised to work closely with Ombugadu and other party members to ensure victory for the party.
Standard times report that one of the contestants Labaran Maku withdrew from the race few minutes before the conduct of the primary election.
Maku who was a former Minister of information, said his decision to step down was based on consultation with his Political associates and some stakeholders of the party.
