2023: Ex-Offa LG Chair submits letter of intent for Senatorial seat

 A Former Chairman of Offa Local Government Area of Kwara, Chief OLUSEGUN OLAWOYIN, has submitted a letter of intent to the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara South Senatorial District.
Our correspondent, reports that the letter was submitted to Mr Bisi Fakayode, the Chairman, Kwara South of PDP, on Sunday at the secretariat of the party at Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
Olawoyin, a one-time Commissioner for Environment in the state, explained that the letter contained his intent to vie for the senatorial seat in the 2023 general elections.
He stated:” I posses the requisite credentials and experience to contest the seat, having served at the state and local government levels”.
The former council chairman, who is also a legal practitioner, noted that the time had come for the people of Kwara South to reorganize themselves for the challenges ahead.
He urged the prospective eligible voters to register and collect their voters’ cards preparatory to the forthcoming polls, identifying it as a tool to effect positive change in leadership.
“I have paid my dues, and I believe it is time for us to reorganize ourselves for the challenges ahead. 
“We cannot pretend to believe that all is well, and correcting the ills in our society requires that we take urgent steps individually and collectively”, Olawoyin said.
Also speaking, the PDP Chairman, Kwara South Senatorial District, Mr. Bisi Fakayode, warned against apathy among the populace, saying that the senatorial district needed quality representation.
He admonished the people to approach the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to obtain their voters’cards in readiness for the next election.
Alhaji Abdullateef Ibrahim, a former Senatorial Youth Leader of PDP in Kwara South, who also spoke at the event, advised that the people of Offa, who are of Ibolo extraction of the district, be allowed to have another shot in the senatorial seat.
