A house wife, Kafayat Nuhu has told the customary court sitting in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State, that although her husband Abolaji Nuhu, want a child but he beats her till she had three miscarriages.
The woman, who was dragged before the court in a suit number: C/197/ 2021, by her husband, lamented that she lost three pregnancies in her three years of marriage to Abolaji.
She said that the beating, cheating and abuse attitude she suffered from her husband were the main caused of her miscarriages
The house wife accused her hubby of sleeping with her best friend, Bukky, and locking her out of their matrimonial home while seeking the hand of other women in marriage with out her consent.
She expressed regret that since her husband locked her out she had been squatting with family members and friends with no less than two clothes.
The woman, who kneeled to beg her husband in the court room, also shed tears on how her hubby reduced her to having no money or job and was fond of beating her whenever they have disagreement.
She added that efforts by her family and that of his to settle the matter proved abortive as her husband went bent on ejecting her from their matrimonial home to take in new wife
“My husband was always beating, abuse and cheated on me with many women and this has led to me having three miscarriages, yet he is saying he needs a child. He even slept with my friend, Bukky and later came back to beg me which i accepted him back.”
“But now he has lock the door of his apartment and left me to be scouting with family and friends. I can’t go an be sleeping at my mothers home because be will suspect i have issue in my matrimonial home”
“I think my husband has gotten another wife he wants to marry, i am not saying he should not marry another wife because he is a Muslim, but what i am saying is that he should let me know, he just chased me out so that he can bring in the new wife”
Responding, the husband said that there were no iota of truth in what his wife said. He told the court to dissolve their marriage, adding that he could no longer live with her.
Abolaji said that his wife wanted to kill him and had once brought out a knife to stab him to death, noting that he was tired of her frequent argument, provocation, and no rest of mind.
The president of the court Mrs A.O Abimbola urged the mother of the wife to find a way to meet with the family of the husband to settle the matter
She, therefore, adjourned the case to April 19.
