Cross Rivers State governor, Prof Ben Ayade is the only Southsouth governors absent as governors from the Niger Delta region converge on the Government House, Port Harcourt, Rivers State for a closed door meeting.
The meeting which has in attendance the Chairman of South-South Governors’ Forum, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Udom Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Sen. Duoye Diri Governor of Bayelsa, Godwin Obaseki Governor of Edo State, and the host, Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State.
As at the time of filing this report, no reason had been given for the absence of Governor Ayade but it will be recalled that he recently defected to the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC). All the other five governors are from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
