Fulani Herdsmen Attack nguru Community in Owerri imo state , Destroy Farms and Burn Down Orie Market

In the early hours of the morning on 18th August 2018 around 6:00 a.m., Fulani herdsmen launched a violent attack on the nguru community in Imo State, destroying farmlands and setting the local market ablaze.
The attackers, who have reportedly been responsible for repeated destruction of farmland in the area, intensified their assault, with this latest attack resulting in the gruesome killing of over 15 people, including children. The incident marks a continuation of a disturbing pattern of violence by suspected herders in the region.
In what appears to be a retaliatory act, enraged community youths confronted the herdsmen, which led to further violence. The attackers then targeted the community’s market, destroying property and burning goods to ashes.
The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the incident. He assured the public that the perpetrators of this violence would be brought to justice and urged community members to remain vigilant. He also encouraged residents to cooperate with local security personnel and provide any information that could help in apprehending the suspects.
