Widows, Elders Christmas party: Umahi orders arrest of a cook for serving bad food

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has ordered for the immediate arrest of the cook who prepared the food served to widows and elders in the State .
Umahi gave the order during the Elders and widows Christmas party held at State Ecumenical Center, Abakaliki.
Umahi who failed to disclose the name of the cook, said it was terrible for someone to give others what he or she cannot consume.
He then vowed that the police would follow due process in investigating the cook for her to refund the funds given to her to prepare the food.
“We are therefore, going to repeat this party as we should celebrate our fathers and mothers well.
“The bible enjoins us to honour our fathers and mothers so that our days would be long on earth.
“I want my days to be long because I have suffered from the youth.
“Presently that I have seen light, I want God to prolong my life so that I can partake in the miracles in Ebonyi,” he said.
He declared that he would inspect the food to be served the widows and elders during the repeat celebration.
“I have directed the deputy governor and my senior special adviser on religion and welfare matters, to make adequate preparations.
“The celebration must be held on Dec.20 or 21 as anyone who takes what belongs to these category of people is taking trouble,” he said.
Umahi also expressed dismay over the quality of wrappers given to the widows and elders, describing it as low in quality.
“We gave the civil servants high quality of wrapper and they were happy.
“The people who supplied those of the civil servants should be ready to supply 10,000 highest quality wrappers, to the widows and elders,”.
He advised parents to inculcate good morals in their children to check the social vices being witnessed in the country especially in the south east zone.
According to him: “When this agitation for Biafra started, I told them that this matter will go beyond Nnamdi KANU. And today, it has gone beyond Nnamdi KANU. Every criminal says he is IPOB. Every criminal says he is ESN.
“Now, we have another bandit they call Simon Ekpa. Is this the Biafra we desired? To be killing ourselves and displacing others. That’s why we said in the hit of that crisis that Ebonyi state can never be part of Biafra. We are not Biafra.
“If Biafra is to be killing ourselves, to go to the market and start shooting people, to the people that have done nothing. To be declaring Sit-at-home, in our hame land and destroying the economy. For what reason? This things are strange to our culture.
“We have phones, and we call our people to call us on phone and tell us where this people are. The Police and Ebubeagu security outfit are on ground. I warn the politicians who use these boys. They are the once that goes to court to sue Ebubeagu. They go to national television to condemn Ebubeagu.
“They have killed a lot of Ebubeagu people who is trying to protect our people. I ask all the local government people to give us information, because we are ready to enter into the forest to flush out these bandits” he stated.
