Gas  explosion rocks Kano, four dead

A liquidified gas storage explosion rock Sabon Gari area of Kano city, leaving four people dead and many injured as a result of the hitting objects.

Standard Times Nigeria correspondent who rushed to the scene reported that the LOG storage discarded accidentally and some residents initially  thought it a bomb blast, but after the security agencies including the anti-bomb squad cordoned the area found out that it was a gas explosion that rocked it's storage.

 Some residents  who have a chats with Standard Times Nigeria stated that " we heard the explosion and we started running away expecting it to be a bomb blast, but at the end we realised that it was a gas explosion from a house where LPG was stored" said Mr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu.

As as the time of filing this report, the security experts in explosives are investigating the cause of the explosion, and normal activities have since returned to Sabon Gari Axis.

In a similar development, Kano state government has clarified the incident citing out that the explosion is not a bomb blast and did not occurred at a school complex as exergrated by some people.

The state's commissioner for information Malam Mohammed Garba in a press statement said that " what had happened is a gas explosion opposite a private school in Sabon Gari area and the security agencies are busy trying to identify the cause of the blast and gives real details of the incident".

He called on the people to continue with their normal activities and stop spreading unconfirmed stories about the explosion because all hands were on deck to ensure that normalcy returned to the area.

Our correspondent reported that Sabon Gari area is now calm and normal businesses resumed while the security agencies were seen busy trying to get the roots of the LPG explosion.
