The Delta Police Command has arrested a Mr Morrison Okomor for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Miss Tega Okpako, in Asaba, the State capital.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspect had since denied the allegation , claiming that only a hot argument ensued between them. According to this source , she was speaking on top of her voice when she slumped and gave up the ghost.
An eyewitness further explained to The Standard Times Nigeria that Okpako’s family started pointing accusing finger at the suspect when they ( family members) visited the lifeless body at the Federal Medical Centre Asaba mortuary. They further rejected the claim of the suspect and insisted that their daughter was murdered by Mr Morrison Okomor for ritual purposes.
An unconfirmed family source said : “We were surprised when we saw her corpse at FMC with a very deep hole in her forehead , ” This is ritual killing because such a hole cannot be as a result of a fall. “Tega is not known to be violent and how can she get herself drunk then suddenly fell down and gave up the ghost just like that, “We are not going to allow the matter to just die like that because you can’t just take somebody’s life in the name of love. ” The police are on top of it now as the suspect is claiming innocence because Tega is dead now and the dead can’t talk”.
Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed the incident and said he could not say with certainty whether Miss Tega Okpako was killed by the suspect , now cooling off at the ‘A’ Division Police cell in Asaba , untill the autopsy test comes out .
