Agency DG commends Okowa for creating job opportunities

The Director General of Delta State Local Content Agency ,Dr Morris Idiovwa , has commended Gov Ifeanyi Okowa for introducing the local content law , thus bringing on board the Local Content Agency.
The DG made this commendation on Wednesday in Asaba , the state capital at a one – day summit with the theme : ” developing Delta State through implementation of the local content law ” .
Dr Idiovwa , in his opening address , urged Deltans and other stakeholders to train their children to prepare them for job opportunities in the various oil companies prospecting for oil in Delta host communities.
He noted that such skills acquisition would emancipate Deltans and free them from the shackles of poverty and unemployment.
He said ” when qualified , able – bodied Deltans were gainfully employed by the oil companies operating in their host communities , peace would reign and unnecessary clashes would be avoided .
Spesking at the summit , the state governor , Dr Ifeanyi Okowa , who was represented by the secretary to the state government , Chief Patrick Ukak , maintained that inclusion of host communities would ensure peace and rapid development at the grassroots.
He stated that the stakeholders summit was very important since it would encourage the use of MOUs and GMOUs in defining relationship with host communities.
The Governor explained that the stakeholders summit would also help the Local Content Agency to set up a database of companies , the assets , communities , contractor and skilled Deltans to enable informed decision-making .
Present at the summit were traditional rulers , the police , NCDSC , captain of industries , women ,youths and corporate organisations.
