The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a five-hour annual preventive maintenance exercise at its Bida 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Niger State, warning electricity consumers in Bida and surrounding communities of a temporary power interruption.
According to TCN, the maintenance is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The company said its technical crew will use the period to carry out preventive maintenance on the 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and associated switchgear at the substation.
TCN explained that the exercise will affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to off-take electricity to customers within the affected areas during the maintenance period.
Communities expected to experience the temporary interruption include Bida Town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba, Goshigi, Lafiyagi, Essa, Amgulu, Mansantall, Agaie Town, Low Cost, Masaga, and surrounding villages.
The transmission company said electricity supply would be restored to the affected areas immediately after the completion of the maintenance exercise.
TCN apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience the planned maintenance may cause, stressing that the exercise is necessary to ensure the reliability and efficiency of its transmission infrastructure.
