Antoine Semenyo escaped down the right and crossed the ball for Erling Haaland to head home.
City are now three points ahead of both Arsenal (second) and Chelsea (fourth). They will face Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
Their next game will be against Manchester United at Old Trafford next Sunday.
