Edo Assembly Crisis: New Speaker set to investigate Agbebaku over alleged misappropriation of funds

The newly elected Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Yekini Idaiye on Tuesday announced a five- member committee to investigate the former Speaker, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku,while also dissolving the house standing committee during Plenary session.

Idaiye subsequently announced a five member committee to investigate the former speaker Agbebaku following alleged corruption allegations and inflated vehicles procurement costs and report back in two weeks.

During proceedings In the legislative chambers, the new Speaker said the dissolution of the House standing committee is to allow the assembly to reevaluate legislative duties, improve administrative efficiency and give members new committee experience.

The Speaker during the session consequently announced the constitution of a five member committee to investigate his predecessor over alleged corruption allegations levelled against him on inflated Lexus SUVs and Hilux trucks.

The committee mandated to report back in two weeks is to be chaired by the member representing orhionmwon south, Bright Iyamu while others representing Akoko Edo II, ovia North East II, Etsakor East, and Esan North East II as members.
