Social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has disclosed what he claims led to the breakdown of his relationship with Afrobeats star Davido.
In a viral video circulating online, VDM alleged that the singer distanced himself after he declined an offer of ₦50 million to campaign for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.
The activist’s comments come amid growing speculation about why the once-friendly pair no longer appear together publicly.
Speaking in Pidgin English, VDM claimed Davido’s associates invited him to meet the governor and promised him the money if he agreed to support Adeleke politically.
“They called me and said I should come and meet the governor, promising me ₦50 million. Ask them what my response was. Many people would have accepted because ₦50 million is a lot of money, but I rejected it,” he said.
VDM also recalled that his last direct interaction with Davido concerned a promised $5,000 gift to a young man in Ghana.
According to him, after people accused him of using the story for publicity because the money had not been paid, he contacted Davido through a direct message to remind him of the pledge.
“I messaged him to ask about the payment because people were attacking me online. After that, they eventually paid the boy,” he added.
Neither Davido nor his management has responded to VDM’s allegations.
