The Global Executive Council (GEC) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has confirmed Ogbueshi Godfrey Odogwu as the Deputy Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, representing Delta State in the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization.
The confirmation and swearing-in ceremony took place during the Global Executive Council meeting held at the Ohanaeze National Headquarters in Enugu and presided over by the President General Senator Azuta Mbata.
This was made known through a statement made available to newsmen by Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
According to the statement, Ogbueshi Godfrey Odogwu, who hails from the distinguished Odogwu family of Asaba and is the President of Asaba Development Union, Abuja, replaces Chief Dan Okenyi, the immediate past Deputy Secretary General, who passed to glory last year.
He brings to the office his vast experience in banking, management entrepreneurship, and consultancy, which many believe will further strengthen the administrative and organizational effectiveness of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
In his remarks, Senator Mbata charged the newly inaugurated Deputy Secretary General to approach his new assignment with utmost diligence, integrity, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to the unity, progress, and collective aspirations of Ndigbo worldwide.
He urged him to uphold the core values of Ohanaeze and contribute meaningfully towards strengthening the organization’s vision of equity, justice, peace, and socio-cultural advancement of the Igbo nation.
In his acceptance speech, Ogbueshi Odogwu expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to discharge his responsibilities with humility, dedication, transparency, and a deep sense of service to Ndi Igbo.
He particularly appreciated Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Olejeme, the National Vice President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, whom she described as the Amazon of Niger Delta, for her exemplary leadership and outstanding contributions to the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, which according to him, have continued to make the Anioma people proud within the Global Executive Council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Odogwu stated that Dr. Olejeme’s commitment, courage, and service to the Igbo nation remains a source of inspiration to him, assuring that he would emulate her footsteps in serving Ohanaeze diligently while striving to make Anioma people proud through impactful representation and selfless service.
