A House of Representatives aspirant under the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Amb. Ikebunwa Lotanna, has distanced himself from online publications and media reports allegedly attacking one of his co-aspirants ahead of the party’s political activities in Anambra State.
In a statement made available to journalists in Nnambewi, Ikebunwa described the reports circulating online as inconsistent with his political values and campaign philosophy, stressing that he remains committed to peaceful and issue-based politics.
The aspirant, who is contesting to represent Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said every aspirant within the party deserves to be evaluated based on competence, vision, credibility, and capacity to serve the people rather than through personal attacks capable of causing division within the party.
According to him, the principles of party supremacy, internal democracy, and mutual respect must remain the foundation of political engagement among members of the party.
Ikebunwa also appealed to his supporters and political associates across the constituency to avoid negative campaigns, media attacks, and publications directed at fellow aspirants or party faithful.
He noted that while he appreciates the support and loyalty shown to him by his followers, such actions do not reflect his style of politics or the peaceful movement he seeks to build.
“My focus remains on constructive engagement with the people, presenting my vision for effective representation, and contributing positively toward the growth, unity, and success of our party and constituency,” he stated.
The aspirant further expressed confidence in the ability of party leaders and members to make informed decisions based on character, competence, and genuine commitment to public service.
He urged party supporters to remain calm, responsible, and respectful in their political engagements as the party prepares for future electoral activities.
Ikebunwa concluded by calling for unity and peaceful coexistence among party members, stressing that collective progress can only be achieved through maturity and mutual understanding within the political family.
