APC Governors removed Uzodimma as PGF Chairman in late-night political twist

A major leadership shake-up has hit the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s governors reportedly removed Hope Uzodimma from his position as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in a move that has sent fresh ripples through Nigeria’s political landscape.

The decision, which surfaced just hours after Uzodimma represented APC governors at the official submission of President Bola Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms in Abuja, is already being described as one of the most significant internal adjustments within the ruling party in recent months.

The development reportedly took place during an extraordinary closed-door meeting of APC governors held in Abuja on Thursday night, where key decisions affecting the leadership structure of the forum were discussed.

Sources say the meeting brought together about 20 progressive governors from across the country, including those from Ogun, Bayelsa, Enugu and several other APC-controlled states, with at least 17 governors said to have been physically present.

The Progressive Governors Forum, which serves as a critical coordination platform for APC governors nationwide, is considered one of the most influential blocs within the ruling party’s political machinery.

Governor Uzodimma had only earlier in the day played a prominent role in national party activities when he led APC governors to the event where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms were formally submitted.

His sudden removal from the PGF leadership position has therefore raised questions within political circles about possible undercurrents of realignment and internal recalibration within the ruling party ahead of future political contests.

Although no official reason was immediately communicated for his removal, political observers believe the decision may be linked to ongoing strategic repositioning within the APC’s governor’s forum structure.

The meeting reportedly ended late on Thursday night after hours of deliberations among the governors, although details of the discussions that led to the decision remain largely undisclosed.
