Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has escalated his battle against a damaging four-year doping ban by appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, in a case that continues to cast a shadow over both player and club.

The 25-year-old has not played competitively since November 2024 after an “adverse finding” in a routine urine test triggered a suspension that many believe has already derailed his career trajectory.

The Football Association formally charged him in June 2025 and handed down the maximum ban, but notably refused to disclose full details, fueling speculation and mistrust around the case.

With bans typically backdated, Mudryk faces being sidelined until December 2028, though insiders claim his legal team is pushing aggressively for an early return as soon as next season.

CAS confirmed receipt of the appeal, stating that proceedings are ongoing, but the lack of a hearing date suggests a prolonged legal battle ahead.

Reports indicate Mudryk may have come into contact with meldonium—a substance linked to enhanced stamina—while on international duty, raising uncomfortable questions about oversight within national team setups.

Mudryk has consistently denied wrongdoing, claiming he never knowingly took banned substances, yet skepticism remains high among observers.

His defense is being handled by Morgan Sports Law, a firm known for high-profile doping cases, signaling the seriousness of the legal fight.

Meanwhile, Mudryk has been training privately away from elite competition, a situation that underlines how dramatically his career has stalled.

Chelsea have remained silent, distancing themselves publicly as the controversy unfolds, leaving the player’s future hanging in uncertainty.
