The All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, on Tuesday intensified efforts to consolidate party unity by meeting with fellow aspirants following his emergence as the party’s flag bearer.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, was adopted during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta. Since then, he has embarked on strategic consultations aimed at fostering cohesion within the party and securing the backing of key contenders in the race.
As part of the move, he met with Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, at the Olusegun Osoba Hilltop residence in Abeokuta. He also held talks with Sarafa Isola, the immediate past High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, alongside his supporters at the residence of party leader Elder Joju Fadairo in Ibara Housing Estate.
During his meeting with Iyabo Obasanjo, Adeola pledged alignment with her political ideals, promising to integrate her manifesto into his agenda. He assured her of inclusion, noting that members of her camp would play active roles in his campaign structure.
He emphasized his commitment to collaboration, describing his visit as a step toward strengthening bonds within the party and ensuring no stakeholder is sidelined.
Meanwhile, Sarafa Isola announced his full support for Adeola, merging 24 support groups into the Yayi 2027 project. He explained that his decision was driven by the broader interest of Ogun State and the need to avoid divisive political transitions.
Isola also highlighted the significance of unity among the Yewa people, noting that the current alignment presents a rare opportunity for collective advancement.
In response, Adeola expressed appreciation for the endorsement, reiterating that his consultations with other aspirants are focused on building harmony and leveraging their experience for the party’s overall success.
