CP visits NUJ, solicits strategic partnership against banditry, social vices in Zamfara

he Zamfara State’s new Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammad Bello, has visited Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ in the state, soliciting a strategic partnership in combating banditry, kidnapping, stealing and other forms of social vices, calling on journalists in the state to collaborate with the police in ensuring return of peace, stability and progress in a Zamfara.

He made the call on Thursday when he led a team of senior officers of the command on a courtesy visit to the Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara state chapter.

He said the command welcomes constructive criticism that would help it make necessary adjustments and improve its operations.

“We are ready to acknowledge constructive criticism that will assist us in our efforts to fight banditry in the state,” the CP stated.

The Commissioner urged journalists to always verify reports on security matters before publication to avoid misinformation.

He assured that the command will work hand in hand with the media to foster development and ensure the return of relative peace to Zamfara.

In his response, the State Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Ibrahim Musa Maizare, thanked the CP for the visit and pledged that journalists in the state have the record of cooperation with Police as well as other security agencies operating in Zamfara state.

He assured him and his entourage that, Journalists will work harmoniously with the police in the fight against banditry, kidnapping, stealing and other social vices bedeviling the state.
