The Nigerian Union Of Teachers, NUT Kebbi state chapter under the leadership of the Chairman, Comrade Zaki Sarki SK has mourned the sudden death of the serving House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Ankwai Zuru describing it as the first incident ever happened in the history of Kebbi state since creation.
In a statement signed by the NUT Chairman Comrade Zaki Sarki SK and made available to Journalists in Kebbi, the union expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Ankwai, describing his death as “a painful and monumental loss to Kebbi State and the nation at large”.
The condolence message issued by Comrade Gazali Hassan Maccido State NUT Secretary, and made available to the public in Birnin kebbi on Tuesday, Comrade Zaki SK extended his heartfelt sympathy to the Governor of Kebbi State, His Excellency Dr. Nasir Idris, the Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad Sami, and the immediate family.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Kebbi State Chapter expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly In a condolence message,
Hon. Muhammad Usman Ankwai, widely known as Zuru, stood as a central figure in Kebbi state politics before his death, he was elected Speaker of the 10th Kebbi State House of Assembly on June 8, 2023, representing Zuru Constituency under the APC.
His leadership was defined by a pledge to strengthen legislative autonomy while fostering collaboration with the executive for effective governance.
Zuru died on April 6, 2026 in an Egyptian hospital where he had been receiving treatment over an undisclosed illness.
The NUT State Chairman Comrade Zaki Sarki SK described the late Speaker as a committed public servant who served with dedication, humility, and responsibility to his people,” Comrade Zaki said, recalling the Speaker’s contributions to legislative governance in Kebbi State.
The NUT Chairman prayed for the late Speaker’s soul, saying “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the government, and the people of Kebbi State the strength to bear this loss”.
The NUT Kebbi State also condoled with Kebbi State Chairman Pilgrim Board Alh. Faruku Musa Yaro-Enabo over a recent fire incident at his residence, wishing him strength to cope with the loss
