Chelsea F.C. Women and Manchester City F.C. Women forced their way into the Women’s FA Cup semi-finals, but not without drama and controversy.

A stunning late strike from Veerle Buurman rescued Chelsea from embarrassment, sealing a tense 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Women.

Chelsea’s earlier lead, courtesy of Sam Kerr, had been wiped out by Eveliina Summanen, setting up a nervy finish.

Despite dominating early exchanges, Chelsea struggled to break down goalkeeper Lize Kop, raising questions about their attacking efficiency.

Alyssa Thompson and Lauren James were both denied before persistence finally paid off just before half-time.

A well-worked move saw Keira Walsh deliver a perfect cross for Kerr, who made no mistake with a clinical header.

Tottenham refused to fold, with Summanen’s free-kick sneaking past everyone to stun the hosts after the restart.

Chelsea nearly threw it away late on when Kerr missed a golden opportunity, heightening the tension inside the stadium.

Just as extra time loomed, Buurman produced a moment of brilliance to snatch victory and avoid what would have been a humiliating exit.

Meanwhile, City quietly handled business, edging past Birmingham to secure their place in the final four.

Khadija Shaw struck early, capitalising on a precise assist before calmly finishing to give City control.

Despite several chances to extend the lead, City’s wastefulness kept the contest alive heading into the break.

A subdued second half followed, but City did enough to hold on and progress without further drama.
