Quick Fire Service response saves property from total destruction in Oyo

What could have turned into a devastating inferno was averted in Boroboro area of Oyo after a swift response by firefighters contained a raging fire in a residential building.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Lane 6A, Gbenga Oyekola Scheme, located in the Boroboro area of the town.

Residents were thrown into panic as flames engulfed a section of the building, threatening to spread to adjoining rooms and nearby properties.

Eyewitnesses said valuables worth millions of naira were destroyed before help arrived.

However, the timely intervention of officials from the Oyo State Fire Service prevented what could have been a total loss.

Chairman of the agency, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed that his team responded immediately after receiving an emergency alert.

According to him, firefighters were swiftly mobilised to the scene to combat the blaze.

He added that operatives from the Federal Fire Service also joined efforts to bring the situation under control.

Akinwande disclosed that no casualties were recorded, despite the intensity of the fire.

He explained that the blaze had already engulfed one of the rooms in the building upon arrival.

“On arrival, we met the last room on the left side of a four-bedroom flat on fire,” he stated.

The fire crew, he said, acted promptly to contain the flames and stop further spread.

Their coordinated effort ensured that other parts of the building were saved.

Residents have since expressed relief, noting that the quick response of emergency services prevented a far more tragic outcome.
