Mystery Deepens as Mother, Daughter Missing After 176 Killed in Kwara Massacre

Fresh concerns have emerged over the whereabouts of Motunrayo Akinleye Dorcas and her daughter, Akinleye Muhazat Veronica, who remain unaccounted for days after a deadly attack that claimed at least 176 lives in Woro community.

The duo were declared missing by worried relatives who say neither their bodies nor any trace of them has been found since the brutal assault that devastated the rural settlement.

Residents disclosed that despite efforts to identify victims and survivors, no individual has come forward to confirm sighting either Dorcas or her daughter during or after the attack.

Even more troubling, there are no official records or reports suggesting that the pair were abducted by the armed attackers.

The uncertainty has deepened fears that their fate remains unknown, leaving family members in anguish.

The attack, which occurred on Tuesday evening, and lasted into Wednesday morning, forced residents to flee en masse.

Survivors said the assailants stormed the community in large numbers, unleashing violence that left homes destroyed and families torn apart.

In the aftermath, many residents escaped with little or no belongings, trekking through forests and dangerous routes to safety.

Several of them eventually found refuge in neighbouring Niger State, particularly in Wawa town.

A viral video obtained by journalists showed displaced persons gathered by the roadside in Wawa, appearing traumatised and exhausted.

Vehicles believed to have transported them from Kwara were seen parked nearby, while families struggled to settle in unfamiliar surroundings.

Women and children were seen huddled together under makeshift shelters, with many sitting on the bare ground.

Some of the displaced persons occupied plastic chairs under a temporary tent, visibly shaken by the ordeal.

Amid the chaos, there has been no confirmed sighting of Dorcas and her daughter among the displaced population.

Family sources insist that extensive checks have been conducted across camps and host communities without success.

The absence of their names among both the dead and survivors has only heightened suspicions surrounding their disappearance.

Confirming the scale of the devastation, the Special Assistant to the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, ZulQharnain Musa, said the community has been completely abandoned.

According to him, residents fled in different directions, with some escaping into nearby towns and others navigating through forests to safety.

He noted that some victims ended up in Baruten after fleeing through dense bush paths.

Musa further revealed that security operatives have since been deployed to the area.

He stated that an army battalion was stationed in the community on the directive of Bola Tinubu.

Despite the presence of troops, many residents have refused to return to Woro.

They cited fears of another attack and uncertainty over their safety.

Entire families remain displaced, struggling to rebuild their lives in temporary shelters.

Meanwhile, relatives of the missing mother and daughter continue to search desperately for answers.

With no bodies recovered and no evidence of abduction, their disappearance has become one of the most troubling mysteries linked to the attack.

Community members say the silence surrounding their fate is as painful as the loss itself.

As investigations continue, their family is left hoping for any information that could reveal what truly happened on that tragic night.
