Oguta, Imo State – Residents of Oguta Market were shocked on Saturday morning when the bodies of a woman and a young child were discovered dumped in the town market. The victims have been identified as Mrs. Lillian Okorie and her son, Master Sixtus Okorie, the wife and child of Mr. Oliver Ikenna Okorie, a local resident.

Eyewitnesses, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to security concerns, said the victims were kidnapped two days prior by unknown assailants. Community sources revealed that the Okorie family had been receiving threats stemming from previous disputes, including a family land disagreement and ongoing harassment linked to local militant activity.

Police officials arrived at the scene to collect evidence, and the bodies were taken to the mortuary. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, but no arrests have been made as of the time of reporting. ASP Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police PRO, urged residents to remain calm and assured that those responsible would be brought to justice.

Community leaders have called for increased security in the area to prevent further incidents. Residents expressed growing concern over kidnappings and violence in the state.

The police have advised the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
