The General Manager of the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Hon. Kehinde Bello, has urged residents of the state, particularly Muslim faithful, to maintain a clean and healthy environment as a civic responsibility during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Bello made the call in a statement issued in Abeokuta to mark the end of the Ramadan fast, where he also congratulated Muslims across the state on the successful completion of the holy month.

He described the 30-day fasting period as a significant spiritual milestone, commending the Muslim Ummah for their perseverance, sacrifice, and devotion throughout the sacred period.

“The holy month of Ramadan is a period of deep reflection, self-discipline, and increased charity. I joined millions of Muslims across Ogun State and beyond in giving gratitude to Allah for granting us the strength, health, and spiritual fortitude to witness and complete this year’s fasting,” he said.

Bello stressed that the virtues of Ramadan, including compassion, patience, and communal harmony, should extend beyond the fasting period and be inculcated in daily interactions.

He added that the spiritual purification achieved during Ramadan should translate into actions that promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, I urge residents to extend the purity of the season to their surroundings by avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal and embracing the ‘waste-to-wealth’ initiatives of the state government,” he added.

The OGEPA boss also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner, greener, and healthier Ogun State, calling for stronger collaboration between residents and the government.

He further urged citizens to remember the less privileged and continue to show love and unity irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

Bello wished the Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration and prayed for the acceptance of their supplications.
