By Jabiru Hassan, Kano.
Following the recent dissolution of Kano state executives of the National Council For Women Societies (NCWS) by the National President, Laraba Shoda, Kano women called on the national body to review the dissolution order and give a chance for the planned election to hold as scheduled.
Speaking to our correspondent in Kano shortly after the issuance of the dissolution on trending news, members from all the 44 local government areas described the action as surprising because the states executives under the leadership of Zainab Ali Musa are trying their best in discharging their duties without bias.
Malama Rahinatu Aliyu from Dawakin Tofa local government area said that ” the dissolution news cames to us as a surprise because the national headquarters of the NCWS did not follow appropriate channel in their action as a Non-government organisation, and we are benefiting from their initiatives therefore we are solidly behind our Exco”.
Similarly, Hajiya Asabe mai Nasara from Gaya local government area lamented that it is not in order just to dissolve an elected executives officers without due consultations where she advised the national president to cancel the dissolution and follow consensus ways that can be acceptable to every side without hurting anybody.
In this regard, all those who had an interview with Standard Times disclosed that NCWS under Hajiya Zainab Ali Musa is working selflessly towards the women gender progression at both rural and urban settlements, and called on the national president to change it’s decision for the interest of Kano women.
Our correspondent tried to hear from the Kano state presido Zainab Ali Musa but proved abortive, but source close to the presido on the condition of anonymity announced that ” NCWS is planning an election in Kano state and all the necessary preparations have been concluded to ensure hitch-free polls in order to enthrone credible leaders that would lead the council with backings from all angles.
