Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to celebrate the FCT’s 50th anniversary alongside President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office.

Wike made the disclosure in Abuja during a meeting with FCTA staff as part of ongoing jubilee activities.

He said a planning committee would soon be inaugurated and a commemorative compendium on the FCT’s 50-year journey unveiled.

According to him, recent infrastructural progress in Abuja was made possible after the FCT was removed from the Treasury Single Account.

“That decision opened access to funding and changed everything,” Wike said.

He added that civil servants had also benefited from improved career progression under the Tinubu administration.

FCDA Acting Executive Secretary, Richard Dauda, described recent infrastructural achievements as unprecedented.

He disclosed that up to 50 projects could be inaugurated by Tinubu’s third anniversary.
