The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Sokoto State is seeking a partnership with the local government ministry to enhance capacity building for information officers. This move aims to strengthen grassroots communication and improve information dissemination across the state.
The NUJ State Executive Council, led by Chairman Usman Muhammed Binji, visited the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Dadi-Adare, to discuss the proposed partnership.
Commissioner Dadi-Adare welcomed the initiative, noting that journalists are critical stakeholders in governance and play a vital role in development, especially given their proximity to local communities.
The release jointly signed by chairman and secretary,Usman Muhammad Binji and Muhammad Nasir Bello further said the partnership is expected to focus on training and equipping local government information officers with skills to effectively communicate government policies and programmes to the public.
By collaborating with the NUJ, the local government ministry hopes to enhance information sharing and support Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration in achieving its development goals in Sokoto State.
