Manchester City brushed aside Galatasaray with a composed 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium to book their place in the Champions League last 16.
Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki struck early as City finished eighth in the table, aided by Benfica’s late drama against Real Madrid.
Haaland wasted an early chance after Rayan Ait-Nouri found him unmarked, planting a free header wide inside three minutes.
The Norwegian made amends seven minutes later, calmly lifting a delightful chip over Ururcan Cakir after latching onto Jeremy Doku’s through ball.
City continued to press as Nico O’Reilly tested the goalkeeper before Cherki doubled the lead, sweeping home Doku’s cross in the 29th minute.
Phil Foden nearly added gloss before half-time but blazed over after replacing the injured Doku.
Galatasaray improved after the break without truly threatening, though Gianluigi Donnarumma denied Victor Osimhen before Cakir saved well from Omar Marmoush.
Davinson Sanchez’s late effort was comfortably handled, and while Galatasaray secured a play-off place, City marched on without drama.
