Anfield Execution: Liverpool run riot as Qarabag are blown away with 6-0

Liverpool turned the Champions League into a training exercise at Anfield, dismantling Qarabag 6-0 to stroll effortlessly into the last-16.

Arne Slot’s men sealed automatic qualification with ruthless efficiency, finishing third in the league phase, while Qarabag somehow survived the carnage to reach the play-offs, where PSG or Newcastle now await.

Hugo Ekitike fired an early warning with a near miss after 12 minutes before Liverpool swiftly tightened their grip on the contest.

Alexis Mac Allister opened the floodgates in the 15th minute, bundling home from Virgil van Dijk’s flick-on, before Ekitike turned provider for Florian Wirtz to double the lead six minutes later.

The second half brought no mercy, as Dominik Szoboszlai’s clever free-kick routine allowed Mohamed Salah to curl home in the 50th minute.

Ekitike finally claimed his goal seven minutes later, punishing a costly error from Bahlul Mustafazada before racing clear and rounding Mateusz Kochalski.

Mac Allister added his second via a kind deflection just after the hour, before Federico Chiesa capped the rout in stoppage time following another marauding Van Dijk run.
