Police arrests suspected bandit supplier with explosive materials in Zamfara

Zamfara state Police command under the leadership of Commissioner Ibrahim Maikaba has arrested a suspected bandit supplier with unlawful possession of explosive materials suspected to be Improvised Explosive ordnance, IEO.

This was disclosed in a statement by DSP Yazid Abubakar anipr, Police Public Relations Officer,
For Commissioner of police, Zamfara State Command,Gusau.

According to the statement, On 27th January, 2027, at about 1615 hours, operatives of Task Force on Illegal Mining of the command, led by Asp Aminu Aliyu acting on credible and actionable intelligence, carried out a successful operation which led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with unlawful possession of suspected explosive materials.

The suspect, Mustapha Mohammad (Male), aged 38 years, was arrested while driving a Toyota Corolla motor vehicle with registration number KUJ 933 EJ.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of nine hundred and fifty-four (954) pieces of suspected explosive materials, concealed in polyethylene bags.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the recovered materials are suspected to have been intended for use by bandits as Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The suspect is currently in police custody, while the exhibits have been secured and formally handed over to the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team for safe custody and detailed analysis.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the source, destination, and intended use of the recovered materials, as well as to identify and apprehend other possible accomplices connected to the crime.
