Obi of Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba Obidiugwu and the community Board of Trustees have debunked claims that they collected the sum of Twenty Million Naira to ensure that the Chairmanship slot is micro-zoned to Abubor Nnewichi in order to pave way for the emergence of one of the contenders, Sir Emmanuel Chukwueloka.

Obi Onyekaba while reacting to the alleged bribery scandal dismissed the allegations, insisting that the bribery allegation is fake aimed at threatening the peace that has been in existence in Nnewichi.

“We zone all political elective positions amongst the villages in Nnewichi.This time, for the positions of State House of Assembly and Local Government Mayor, it is the turn of Abubor to produce the next candidates for the positions mentioned for equity and fairness.

“We fought together to get to this level, collectively we will support Abubor to give us qualified candidates to contest for the next Mayor of Nnewi North.

He urged his people to disregard malicious report, orchestrated by individuals intent on destabilising the peaceful coexistence in Nnewichi and further urged journalists to verify claims before publication.

On the same note, the BoT Chairman Hon.Fabian Obi (Akaekpuchionwa) said today, being January 26, 2026 they gathered to collectively organise how all the elective positions in Nnewichi would be shared for peaceful coexistence in the community.

He said all Nnewichi BoT members agreed that all the political elective positions and Nzuko-Ora Nnewi due for the people of Nnewichi would be zoned to all the villages for fairness and equity.

“Since Ezeobuo village in Nnewichi had produced Local Government Chairman in 1991 in the person of Barr. Enuma, for fairness it is the turn of Abubor Nnewichi to produce, after Abubor Obiofia then Odida.

“We also collectively shared that of House of Assembly, Ezeobuo has also gone in the person of Barr. Ben Chuks Nwosu, Odida has also produced, next in line is Abubor, then Obiofia.

“This is how the meeting went, motion was moved and collectively we adopted it” he disclosed.

On the allegations that six BoT members of Nnewichi collected Two Million Naira each, the BoT Chairman debunked it, insisting that they are well to do not beggars.

“We stand for peace in Nnewichi, we cannot be so cheap to be bought over with merely Two Million Naira” he maintained.

Barr. David Ifeanyi, Nnewichi BoT Secretary said Two Million is too small to buy him over, adding that he has been a lawyer for thirty something years now.

“I cannot descend so low to collect Two Million Naira to do something against my conscience.We don’t have the right to produce the next Mayor rather political parties.

“We just basketed the jobs available to Nnewichi not only Mayor but also other positions including Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, State House of Assembly, so that each village in Nnewichi will know when it is its turn to go for a particular position, this will remove all forms of rancour and disunity” he cleared.
