Onitsha, Anambra – Residents of Onitsha are living in fear following the kidnapping and death of Mrs. Taiwo, a woman who recently relocated to the area. She was abducted on December 1, 2024, and her body was discovered near the Niger River Bridge two days later.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim’s family had previously suffered tragedy in Oyo State, where her husband and child were reportedly killed. According to the source, she had lived in constant fear due to threats from a local cult group targeting her family.

The Anambra State Police PRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, urging residents to remain calm and go about their daily activities, while assuring that the perpetrators will be apprehended and face justice.

The tragic death underscores the rising insecurity in urban Anambra, raising concerns about the safety of residents amid threats from criminal gangs and cult groups.
