Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ogun State have arrested three suspects and confiscated 115 bags of Cannabis sativa at a residence in the Mowe area of the state.

The suspects, led by one Benedict Joseph Theaddues, were apprehended on Wednesday while allegedly loading the illicit drugs, weighing about 1,600 kilograms, into a Toyota Sienna bus and a Hummer bus.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Haris Musa, the arrest followed an intelligence-driven operation that led operatives to intercept the suspects in the act.

Musa said the successful operation underscores the command’s high level of operational alertness, intelligence capacity, and zero tolerance stance against drug trafficking.

The development comes barely two weeks after the Ogun NDLEA Command disclosed that it arrested 760 suspects and seized 6,060.72 kilograms of illicit drugs and 2,655.75 litres of liquid-based substances across the state in 2025. The command also revealed that 316 drug users benefitted from its counselling and rehabilitation programmes during the period.

The spokesperson stressed that the latest seizure sends a strong warning to drug traffickers that there will be no safe haven or operational window for illegal drug activities in Ogun State at any time.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to its statutory mandate of dismantling drug trafficking networks, curbing the circulation of illicit substances, and protecting public health and security in the state.
